Sustainability at Livestock Philippines 2023

We know sustainability is increasingly important to our attendees and exhibitors, as well as to our market as a whole. Running an exhibition like “Livestock Philippines” ” gives us lots of opportunities to improve our impacts environmentally, socially, and economically in our region. We want to make our event more responsible and play a role in helping our markets improve its own sustainability through connecting people with the networks and knowledge they want to help solve the big challenges in our sector.

Our Three Aims

We believe a sustainable event focusses on three key aims:

At Livestock Philippines 2023, we aim to accelerate sustainability and be able to run our event in an environmentally and socially responsible way whilst seeking to inspire sustainable development in the Livestock, Aquaculture, and Poultry sectors for the region.

We do this not only because our partners & attendees tell us that they care that our events are run in a responsible manner, but because it is the right thing to do for our customers, colleagues, and the communities we serve.

At Livestock Philippines 2023, we are pleased to introduce
» Green Pavilion features exhibitors who have exhibiting products or services relevant to sustainability (example: organic & environmentally friendly products).
» Sustainability Zone which will provide information related to SDGS, sustainability industry insights to create more awareness to our attendees.

How Can You Be More Sustainable?

At Livestock Philippines 2023, you can also make a positive impact towards building a sustainable future.

As Exhibitor – During Livestock Philippines 2023, we aim to accelerate sustainability and be able to run our event in an environmentally and socially responsible way whilst seeking to inspire sustainable development in livestock and aquaculture across vertical markets in the region. We do this not only because more than 80% of our attendees tell us that they care that our events are run in a responsible manner, but because it is the right thing to do for our customers, colleagues, and the communities we serve. We would like to encourage you to join our sustainability efforts by completing the below 10 point-checklist. By working together, we can make the event more memorable, meet our audience’s expectations and reduce wasted time, resources, and costs.

01. Ensure your stand is sustainably designed so that its structure will be used again by either yourself or by your contractors.
02. For your travel and transport, choose the most sustainable option possible for your journey to and from the event by making use of public transport. Also, consolidate your shipments and use logistic companies that have sustainability credentials.
03. Select energy-efficient, LED lighting and other equipment for your stand, and be sure to power down your equipment at the end of the day.
04. Reduce paper handouts by going digital and source recycled, sustainably certified paper options where printing is needed.
05. When purchasing promotional items, consider the amount you order, the environmental credentials of the materials they are made from, as well as whether they are useful giveaways that will be used long after the event is over.
06. Help to support the sustainability of the local area by using local suppliers and considering the sustainability credentials of the hotels you book.

Livestock Philippines 2023 Helps Attendees to Improve Environmental Impact

Compensate for the emissions from flight to the event – As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are implementing a range of initiatives to make the event more responsible, and we also want to help others in being more sustainable.

Our goal is to become a carbon-neutral event. To achieve this, we are reducing our carbon footprint by increasing efficiencies, powering the event with renewable electricity, and reducing the amount of waste generated.

While registering for Livestock Philippines 2023 you will be provided with the option to purchase carbon offsets to compensate for the emissions produced by your flight. Carbon offsets are schemes that are designed to counterbalance any unavoidable carbon footprint by funding an equivalent carbon dioxide saving elsewhere in the world.

Through paying a carbon offset fee you help others reduce, remove or avoid emissions being generated. The projects supported include Amazonian Rainforest Conversation in Brazil, Household Biodigester Distribution in China, Domestic Energy Systems in India, Teak Afforestation in Mexico, American Grasslands Conservation in USA, and Reserve Preservation in Borneo. Learn more about these carbon offset projects at Informa.

These projects bring a whole host of other positive benefits, such as empowering communities and increasing their wellbeing, protecting ecosystems, creating jobs, and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

The price for the carbon offset is determined by the quantity of CO2 emissions that an aeroplane gives off per passenger for a given flight distance. This is calculated from a single journey distance, to then cover the carbon emissions produced by the full round trip. The calculation is based on average fuel consumption data for typical short, medium and long-haul flights. The fees for carbon offsets are determined based on the methodology established in Defra’s Environmental reporting guidelines and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting.

We partnered with Natural Capital Partners to ensure the support of certified and audited carbon offset projects around the world. All the projects supported are independently verified to assure emission reductions are occurring.

Livestock Philippines 2023 Powered by Renewable Electricty

We are pleased to announce that as a part of our continued commitment to the sustainability of our event, this year we made the switch to 100% renewable electricity for our event. This resulted in our electricity use being carbon neutral, preventing the creation of 2,000 tons of CO2, and therefore significantly reducing our carbon impact.

Sustainability in Informa Markets

Livestock Philippines 2023 is part of Informa Markets and the Informa Group. Sustainability at Informa focuses on the long-term impacts we have on customers, colleagues, the communities we work in, and the environment.

Many of our stakeholders are clearly telling us that sustainability (social, economic, and environmental) is something that is no longer nice to have but a necessary part of any event. We want to make sure we’re meeting those expectations and we believe that being sustainable is the right thing to do.

We also recognise that it’s not just about the way we produce our events and products but recognizing that we have a role to play in providing a space to work in partnership together with our markets to inspire the sustainable development of the industries we serve. This is an ongoing process for us and we’re looking for ideas of how we can improve.

More information about our work so far can be found on including our latest sustainability reports.
