According to an article posted by BusinessMirror Editorial, pork is popular in the Philippines, and this is evident in the many Filipino dishes that use it as ingredient. Lechon, for example, is usually the star of Filipino parties. Compared to beef, pork is a more affordable source of protein. The appetite of Filipinos for pork and other hog products has sustained the hog-raising industry that is now worth P200 billion. Of the total swine population of 12.7 million heads as of January 1, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed that backyard farms accounted for 63.55 percent. The country is now facing a challenging situation due to African Swine Fever, as Swine Production being a significant part of Philippines' Livestock Industry, it's HIGHLY important to be knowledgeable with the different issues, trends, innovations that surrounds it.
